Start of the 2020-21 School Year

Updated August 3, 2020

Seven possible learning plan options to start the school year were developed by teams of teachers, administrators and parents and have been reviewed by additional feedback groups of teachers and parents. They are now being finalized and will be presented to the School Board at the Board’s August 6 meeting for their consideration.

The School Board will select the option Minnetonka Schools will implement for the start of the 2020-21 school year either at its August 6 meeting or at a special meeting shortly thereafter, if they feel they need more time to consider the options.

This plan will be updated after the School Board has made it's decision on which option will be employed.

Q&A on Opening Schools During COVID19 Pandemic

Please note, the information below is based on Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) guidelines as of July 22, 2020. District protocol may also be adjusted in the below scenarios, as MDH and CDC update their guidelines.

**The term “close contact” is used several times in the answers below. Close contact is currently defined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as someone who was within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 48 hours before illness onset.
