Dream Makers Event Raises More than $313k for Minnetonka Schools

Earlier this year, the Minnetonka Public Schools Foundation hosted its most successful Dream Makers fundraising gala yet! Through the generosity of all the attendees, the February event was sold out weeks in advance and $313,571 dollars were raised–the proceeds of which will go toward funding grants for teachers and programs at Minnetonka Schools.

This year’s event featured a live musical performance by local Twin Cities band Jacuzzi Puma, as well as a set of songs performed by Earth, Wind & Formative Assessment, a band formed of Minnetonka Schools teachers and Superintendent David Law.

“The Dream On Rock On theme shined strong,” said Minnetonka Public Schools Executive Director Jill Howe. “In-person attendees and online participants donated and bid enthusiastically, allowing the dreams of Minnetonka students and teachers to become reality!”

Dream Makers 2024 was held in a brand new location, Equestria West, and had many new auction items, games and prizes donated by local businesses.

Foundation trustee Sabrina Wixo echoed Howe’s enthusiasm about the event’s success. “It was exciting to change it up with the rock and roll theme, live music, a new venue, new auction items, new games and a few surprises,” said Wixo. “All the energy around the novelty combined with the generous support of the Minnetonka community for our schools created an electric evening with historic results!”

Now in its 21st year, the annual gala has become a point of community connection. “Dream Makers draws our community and schools together and highlights the collaboration among all buildings in our district,” said Howe. “Parents and community members who participate, donate and support represent every building in the district. The programs and projects funded by the foundation support students at all stages of learning from birth to post-secondary, providing continuity for a student’s entire educational experience. Students are the future of our community, and the Foundation is in the business of supporting and educating our future.”

Minnetonka Public Schools would like to thank everyone who attended and everyone who volunteered and donated to make this event possible. The impact on classrooms will be felt for years to come.
